Why do some challenges hurt so much?
When we face burdening challenges in our life, not only may we be going through the physical problems associated with them (for example, maybe we have skin or weight issues), but we also have a whole mental element too.
Dealing with mental challenges is even harder because learning to overcome something new typically requires us to put in the work and train our mind to stay on course. We have to dedicate time towards the improvement of our wellbeing. The challenges that cause us to suffer the most require this attention but who wants to deal with something that is the source of so much misery at times?
How do we stay on course when what we have to improve at is something we resent and are only interested in because we are forced to deal with the problem?
How can we use our pain/discomfort/catastrophe to find purpose?
At first pain is associated with negativity. However, daily pains and even catastrophe’s can give us an opportunity to learn a new skill set and grow. Through this process of suffering and challenges we can learn all about a subject through experiential learning!
Of course somethings in life are unbearable. Like a loved one dying, loosing your home/job, having a romantic relationship fall apart, being bullied etc. BUT through these experiences we can find inspiration to not only solve this problem for ourselves… but solve it for others too! The benefit is often we are searching for that meaning in life, and have to look far and wide for it. What happens if we can make the origins of our suffering just that?
Once we overcome our challenge and developed a passion for it we can decide to get some schooling and specialize, we can build a business that looks to give back, or join an online community to help others who faced our exact same struggles.
How did Jason turn his challenges into his passion?
Jason Lee shortly after birth was dealing with a skin condition called eczema that covered his entire body and he lived that way till his early teens. From loosing much of his hair, eye brows, and being sore all the time he was in constant pain. Once he found a remedy to his disease and got it under control he was so frustrated. He couldn’t believe no one could help him before. He was suffering terribly, had no friends, and was getting bullied and what they prescribed him time after time made him a little better then way worse.
Jason became determined not to let that happen to anyone else to the best of his ability. Today he has his own practice where he helps kids and adults just like him. Today 12 of his patients he helped actually went to school to do the same things he does. He even helped an angry gentleman on the brink of death (whom had a heart attack at 39) go from hating healthy things to falling in love with the process! He went on to run a marathon with Jason to show y’all how committed he became.
Without further ado, here is some actionable tips for how Jason used his pain and suffering to find his passion and a career:
1) Self-reflect. Write down your challenges. Create a vision for success, use it as motivation – When you go into reflection and get specific you will find your challenge will be much clearer. When it is clear what you want to overcome, you can test different strategies.
The more you problem solve the more you get closer to the answers and along the way as you eliminate options. Focusing on how to succeed and going all in will actually make you feel better then the alternative, which is waiting for things to get better!
2) Turn your attention to someone you can help – When we focus on not just “our” problem but also on how we can enhance others around us with similar things… you will find yourself less upset, angry, and depressed. The mind can only think of one thing at a time so use that against it!
3) Explore your creative side – Jason while going through some much hardships took up things like painting and Lego. Today his ability to solve problems he attributes partly to all the time he spend thinking outside of the box and building things!
Today he is solving challenges and doing so creatively like he did when he was a little boy! What are some hobbies and fun things you can do that can help you build skills that can help you solve your problem or challenges?
4) See yourself as the solution – How Jason sees his patients or anyone going through something is as the problem solver. They are the remedy. They are the solution! Why? Because any answer or idea that can help you can only happen IF you take the action!
While this can sound stressful, this means that YOU have the most power and influence in your life to change it. If you ponder this long enough it can be quite empowering!
5) If you are facing a catastrophic event… USE IT – Again, Jason’s client was on the verge of dying due to being unhealthy and went on to being an active runner and quite healthy. You too can use unfortunate events to completely transform and re-imagine yourself for the better.
Just Imagine if overcoming the most terrible thing in your life today could make you 10x more healthier, popular, wealthier, and most importantly PASSIONATE?
Simply go on YouTube and search some videos of the worlds most admired people. Most of them overcame great adversity just like you and look where they are!
6) Learn, Learn, Learn – Have a mindset that you want to learn as much as possible to find the solution to your suffering. Leverage your peers who may be going through the same thing to learn more about what you are going through. Having a support network is encouraging and is a more fun way to overcome your challenges.
With respect to being a life long learner, Jason found even as a a practitioner he is still learning by asking questions. He admits this is where he learns the most about what really is going on and how he finds the best solutions.
It also helps fuel his passion by staying connected and helps him stay humble!
7) Envision a path for a career related to your struggles– While you are doing all this learning and experimenting to overcome your challenges, is there a way for you to tie together existing passions, your struggles, and a future profession? If you can find something, you will be very successful, happier, and help an abundance of people in your own unique way!

The Natural Mystic Healer - Passion Sorcerer
Being covered head to toe in a skin condition that causes bleeding, cracking, and almost complete hair loss is something one can’t imagine enduring for 10 minutes. Imagine dealing with this for 10+ years from nearly birth? What would keep you going?
Jason kept pushing and pushing, determined to find an answer and when he did something special happened. He was so frustrated that this simple idea was not shared to him earlier to remedy his skin, he became obsessed with helping others overcome what he had to fight. BOOM! A mission, passion, and purpose was born.
He can honestly say now, that his disease was the best thing that ever happened to him. From having a very successful practice to being a public speaker (he was even on a ted talk) it is safe to say he turned his challenge into a passion!
